In our contemporary world, the word "love" is often used too loosely, and at the same time, not expansive enough. On the one hand, “love” is often reserved for a very particular kind of relationship, the romantic kind celebrated by pop music, and on the other hand, it is used for everything from food (“I love ice cream”!) to clothing (“I love that jacket!”).
So - what do we really mean by "love"? And what is it's liberating power?
According to the Buddhist teaching known as the Brahma Viharas, one translation being “Abode of the Divine,” we do not need to escape to some "heaven" outside of our earthly existence in order to live in a divine abode. We simply need to cultivate these “brahma viharas” which consist of certain immeasurable mind-heart states, that enable us to embody a truly liberating love.
In this workshop, we will explore and practice watering the seeds of these mind-heart states and connecting with them in an embodied way - through movement, breath, and meditation practice.
